All health insurance plans offered through BeWell have a minimum requirement of a core set of benefits, called essential health benefits (EHBs).
EHBs must include items and services within the following 10 categories:
- Ambulatory patient services
- Emergency services
- Hospitalization
- Maternity and newborn care
- Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
- Prescription drugs
- Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices
- Laboratory services
- Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management
- Pediatric services, including oral and vision care
Specific services covered in each benefit category can vary. When you compare plans in the Marketplace, you’ll see the specific benefits each plan offers.
Note: The birth of a child is a Qualifying Life Event (QLE), which triggers a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). During an SEP, you can enroll in a health insurance plan, add or remove dependents or change to a different health insurance plan.
