What to Expect at a Virtual Enrollment Event

Choosing a new health insurance plan is a big decision, especially if you need coverage quickly. Luckily, you don’t have to go it alone—and you don’t even have to leave your house! 

During a virtual enrollment event, you can talk directly with a BeWell Certified Assister from your computer or phone. They’ll answer all your questions and guide you through each step of the process to sign up for health insurance. 

It’s a great opportunity if you’ve recently lost Medicaid coverage, you’re changing jobs, or you’ve had a major life event like getting married or having a baby. There’s no cost to attend the virtual event, and you can walk away with an affordable health insurance plan that covers your needs. 

We hold virtual enrollment events throughout the year, so save the dates on your calendar! Let’s take a look at what you’ll need to bring and what to expect. 

Get Ready: Check Your Status and Gather Your Documents

Before joining an event, the first step is to verify that you are not eligible for Medicaid. The easiest way to do this is through the New Mexico Heath Care Authority (HCA). You can call them at 800-283-4465 or chat via text on their website. 

It’s also a good idea to gather some important documents. These include family and health details, as well as work and tax information. Our handy pre-enrollment checklist shows you what your Certified Assister will need to help you find the best plan. 

Log In: How to Join a Virtual Event

BeWell’s online enrollment events are held on Zoom. This platform is free and easy to use from your mobile phone or computer. You can download the Zoom app or create a free account on the Zoom website. 

Follow these easy instructions to use Zoom from your computer, phone or online: 

Find a Plan: Talk with a Certified Assister

During the event, the organizer will place you in your own “virtual conference room.” You’ll be able to speak privately with a BeWell Certified Assister. They know health insurance inside and out, so feel free to ask any questions you may have. 

The Certified Assister will help you enter your personal and financial data into the BeWell system. From there, we’ll explain each option to help you find the best match. You’ll confirm your choice and finalize your coverage. 

After that…well, that’s actually all it takes! The whole process usually takes less than 1 hour, so you’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy the peace of mind that comes with affordable healthcare insurance.  

Prefer to Meet in Person? No Problem!

If connecting online isn’t your thing, we are here for you in person! You can meet with a Certified Assister during a local enrollment event near you or find our booth at your favorite festivals and cultural gatherings. BeWell Certified Assisters are available for one-on-one appointments in person or by phone, as well.
