Jane Wishner, J.D.

Jane Wishner served as New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s Executive Policy Advisor for Health and Human Services for the first 3 years of the Administration. An attorney with extensive experience as a litigator, researcher and advocate, Jane left the private practice of law in 2005 to found and serve as the first Executive Director of the Southwest Women’s Law Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In that capacity, Jane organized and led New Mexico’s consumer advisory group on the initial implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Ms. Wishner left the Southwest Women’s Law Center to devote full time to health policy work. She moved to Washington, D.C. to work at the National Health law Program during the launch of the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion and health insurance exchanges in the fall of 2013. She then joined the Urban Institute’s Health Policy Center where she worked as a qualitative researcher on a wide array of health policy issues until returning to New Mexico in 2018.
